A Continual Process, Not An Action

Seth Godin has a great post today about why some organizations have a difficult time understanding social media is a process, not an event. I’d take that one step further for the real estate industry…it’s a process, not an event or action.

It may help to think of your participation on your blog, Twitter, Facebook, etc. not as something you can check off of a to-do list, but as a change in business lifestyle. It has to become one of those things that you “just do”.

Events/actions are things like holding open houses, showing properties, writing contracts, and (Yes!) attending closings.

Your blog and use of social media is a continual process of interacting with your clients and potential clients while building your brand and establishing your sphere of influence for the long haul.
