About TechShorties

Discover what TechShorties is all about through 3 simple questions:

What is TechShorties?

Let’s start with what TechShorties is not.

TechShorties is NOT:

  • another “get rich quick” scheme aimed at real estate agents and brokers. There’s work involved, but if you follow our instructions, you will be working smarter, not harder.
  • a lead generating service. You’ll definitely get lots more leads, but only because you followed our system.
  • complicated. The point is to demystify and simplify your online experience, not bog it down.
  • time consuming. Many of us are or were agents too. We understand how truly valuable your time really is, so our lessons are short, but pack a big punch.
  • for everyone. If you’re looking for someone to do the work for you, if you are not interested in putting in time and effort in your online growth every day, this program may not be for you.

Here’s what TechShorties is.

TechShorties IS:

  • an educational resource for real estate agents and brokers who are trying to decide where and how to best invest their time online.
  • full of lessons that offer step-by-step instructions on how to effectively use many of the up and coming forms of online technology and social networking (Twitter, Facebook, blogging, etc) in order to grow your real estate business.
  • a curriculum we truly believe in, as it was derived from the successful practices of agents and brokers who can attribute more than half their revenues last year to clients generated through online tools (many of them free to use).
  • a way to reach clients far, far outside your current sphere.
  • an incredible way to shorten your technological learning curve and to not just catch up with other agents, but to get way ahead of the competition.

Don’t just take our word for it though, see what some of our students have to say:

This young, savvy marketing company has put together a series of easy to use lessons to walk you step by step through each of the different forms of technology and/or social networking such as Blogging or Tweeting or Facebook. The individual lessons are available when you are ready to tackle them, any hour of the day, any day of the week. They have clear exercises to allow you to actually use the technology, but also have trained individuals available to assist you should you become lost in the quagmire of unfamiliar words or sites.

As a 56 year old Realtor with 28 years of experience, I need to continually update the way I deliver information and communicate with my clients to best meet their needs. Tech Shorties helped me have one reliable place to go for direction and answers. They will be your one stop shop for assistance in effectively using the ever-changing world of communication technology.
- Realtor, Nancy Beveridge, Portsmouth, NH

Having been in real estate more than 10 years now the existing method of marketing myself was well ingrained in my thinking. Using the teachings from TechShorties I’ve learned which online tools are most effective for growing my real estate business. But more than that, I now understand how best to apply my time using those tools so it takes me less time to be active in front of a lot more potential clients.

I now have clients contacting me for help with their real estate needs after following TechShorties outline for building an effective online presence and learning how to communicate with my local community to establish credibility. I spend almost no time looking for clients now – they are finding me online! I couldn’t be more happy with the results and am thrilled to have been included in the TechShorties pre-launch group.

Who the heck are we to tell you how to run your business??

Good question. Thanks for asking! We are: real estate agents (active and inactive), real estate investors, software designers, forward-thinking creative artists, and most importantly, lovers of new web technologies that help our lives operate more efficiently and improve our businesses. We read and learn these tools in our free time simply because we love doing it!  In fact, we all met by applying what we are teaching you here.  This team and this website is here because we all met and found a common connection via Twitter!

You can learn all the specifics throughout this site (and via our free report and newsletters). For now, let us tell you who we are, and why you can put your faith in us, just like that young couple buying their first home trusts you to help them navigate the home-buying process.

Suzy Trotta, REALTOR Extraordinaire and Co-Founder

Suzy doesn’t just write most of the TechShorties lessons, she practices them. A real estate agent in Knoxville, TN and also the proud author of All Around KTown, a real estate blog solely devoted to the Knoxville housing market, Suzy is, according to one Knoxville blogger“a terrific, real-life example of a businessperson who isn’t just talking about how to use social media, but is actually out there doing it, with measurable return on her investment.” Not only has she doubled her business as a direct result of her social media efforts, she has also received received extensive local media attention to boot. Suzy’s social media know-how combined with her background in e-Learning make her a valuable part of the TechShorties team.

Jen McClurg-Roth, Co-Founder

Professional Online

Jen is a visionary, a former real estate agent, an MBA and personal results coach. Jen combines her can-do approach with 15 years in sales and marketing, real estate sales and investment, and an MBA to deliver the results of this highly talented TechShorties team.  Jen sees needs and finds a way to fill them. Looking at the growing gap between today’s tech-savvy home buyers/sellers and agents/brokers struggling to reach them, Jen saw the solution and set about creating a way to share it with the real estate industry.

Michael Wender, Creative Guru

Michael Wender

Michael has been a freelance web developer for the past nine years. During this time, he has used his personal and business websites to gain clients from New York to San Diego and all parts in between. He believes in making the Internet simple for his clients by creating websites that are easy to use and update.

Scott Adcox, Scott of All Trades

Scott Adcox

Scott has been developing software more than 15 years, as database administrator, and applications engineer. Yep…a nerd. His technical background contributes to the “behind the scenes” workings of TechShorties, but it’s his interest and insight into the world of blogging, social networking, and permission marketing that made Scott so excited to join this endeavor and motivated to help those in the real estate industry who want to learn and grow.

Who are YOU?

Who are you,” is another good question here. Let’s answer that (so you can decide if you belong here or not).

YOU are: a real estate agent or broker. You love what you do – for you there’s no feeling like putting a young couple in their first home.  You take great pride in being an expert in your domain.  You do a great job and your clients love and refer you.

Lately however, you feel a growing sense of anxiety as you talk to your colleagues, attend conferences, and hear more and more about “social media” and “Twitter” and “Facebook” and (gasp) “blogging.”  You have a nagging feeling you are being left behind as the old paradigm for real estate marketing shifts underneath you. And to make matters worse, you don’t have a clue where to get started, or the bandwidth to figure out how (take a deep breath, you’re in the right place now).

YOU also may be dabbling in the some of the online tools you’ve heard people talking about.  You have accounts on Facebook and Twitter, and you might have even started your own blog. But you haven’t quite figured out how to convert those efforts to create new clients and grow your revenue.

YOU are the model TechShorties student. YOU are why we created this site, developed this curriculum and put a lot of time, money and energy into getting it in your hot little hands.  You see the need, you feel the drive, you know this is “what’s next” and that you have to get in now or get left behind. You just don’t know how to go about it.

We’re glad you are here.  We look forward to working with you, coaching you and watching you succeed!  Our success lies within yours. Come along with us and get a jump on the competition!
